Williamsport, Pa. — Construction is set to resume soon on the site of the Williamsport Wawa store after it was stopped earlier this year when a cancer-causing chemical was found in the groundwater. Muncy, Pa. — An inmate at SCI Muncy bit a staff member when she started fighting staff, police say. Shyanne Autumn Place, 25, of Muncy "became irate" on March 5 when she was being transported to a “dry cell,” a cell without plumbing, for observation, Trooper Michael Adams said. Woman charged for public drunkenness
Lewisburg, Pa. — A woman who nearly got struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the street was charged with public drunkenness. The 37-year-old woman tried walking across West Branch Highway near North Derr Drive and North Seventh Street near Burger King, said Trp. Bradley Derk of state police at Milton. Derk watched as a vehicle almost struck the Port Treverton woman as she crossed the highway just after 9 p.m. last week. She was stopped and charged with public drunkenness.
