    Space heater to blame for house fire

    WICHITA COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Multiple fire crews responded to a house fire on Seymour Highway on Tuesday.

    According to Wichita County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Melvin Joyner, shortly after 5 p.m., April 30, 2024, deputies responded to a report of a house fire in the 9400 block of Seymour Highway.

    LOCAL NEWS: Three buildings damaged in overnight structure fire on 11th Street

    Firefighters from Wichita West VFD, Bowman VFD, Iowa Park, and Holliday Fire Departments responded to the scene. They found a room and its contents on fire. The blaze was contained fairly quickly.

    Joyner said the fire appeared to have been started by a space heater. He said there is no estimate for damage at this time. Wichita County deputies provided traffic control while the fire was fought.

    No injuries were reported.
