Two WFPD officers injured as four arrested in Central Freeway La Quinta

WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Two Wichita Falls police officers are injured after more than a dozen patrol cars responded to reports of people breaking into and living in a closed hotel on Central Freeway.

Several people were arrested on various charges at the La Quinta Inn on Central Freeway on Tuesday, April 16, which has been closed by the city for code violations, according to police.

One suspect who was resisting was tased four times with little effect.

Anthony Bowen has been charged with two counts of assault of an officer, evading and resisting, criminal trespass and parole violation.

Summer Garcia has three drug possession charges, tampering with evidence and criminal trespass.

Sharon Byars and Carla Tripplett, also known as Carla Evelsizer, have charges of criminal trespass.

At least six people have been arrested since Saturday, April 13, for breaking in or staying in rooms

Several police units initially responded to the hotel on Tuesday after an anonymous caller reported a woman was breaking out windows and trying to get inside.

More units arrived as officers reported numerous suspects running.

During a struggle, one officer hit his forehead on a wooden dresser and said he was in great pain and a large bump was visible on his forehead.

Another suffered a broken finger.
