WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A Wichita Falls man was arrested on Monday after police said that he attempted to run over someone and then tried to kidnap another.

Albert Edmonds III, 60, was arrested for attempted kidnapping and charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle on April 15, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., according to an official from the Wichita Falls Police Department.

On Monday, April 15, at approximately 7 p.m., WFPD officers were dispatched to Faith Mission in the 1300 block of Travis amid reports of a black male in a green Dodge pickup with a red lawn mower in the back attempting to run people over with his vehicle.

According to a victim on the scene, the man stopped and asked him for a cigarette. The victim responded and told him it would cost $1, police said.

The victim stated when they were walking away, the subject drove into the grass, through the yard, onto the sidewalk and toward the victim and others.

According to WFPD, the victim said the driver was attempting to run him over, and upon reviewing the surveillance video, officers noted the suspect accelerated while driving toward the individuals.

All of the involved victims were able to get out of the way.

In an apparent related situation, WFPD officers responded to the intersection of Brook and Dayton at approximately 6:48 p.m. that same day in reference to a possible abduction.

The suspect allegedly attempted to pull a juvenile victim into his pickup truck. The victim was able to get away, and the suspect drove off, police said.

Officers on the scene were able to match the suspect in the possible abduction to the driver in the incident at Faith Mission based on the description of the pickup truck.

The suspect was then identified as Edmonds after officers located the pickup in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Blvd.

Edmonds was arrested for attempted kidnapping and has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, according to a release from the WFPD.

The Wichita County Jail log shows Edmonds was booked into jail on four aggravated assault charges but does not list a charge for attempted kidnapping. Despite the identification, authorities are still investigating if the two incidents are connected.

Edmonds’ bonds total $40,000.
