Moderate Flood Risk Shifts East to Victoria, Gonzales, and Bryan in South Texas as San Antonio Drops From Excessive Rain Outlook Overnight
SAN ANTONIO — The latest Weather Prediction Center update brought a major change to the flooding rain outlook for south and southeast Texas tonight. Bexar County was nearly removed from the excessive rain outlook after rain arrived later than expected and pushed farther east. A Moderate Risk, level 3 of 4, now stretches from Corpus Christi and Victoria north through Gonzales, Round Top, and Bryan. Rain chances remain for San Antonio into the Friday commute, but totals may be far lighter than first expected.

The first “official” day of fall, known as the fall equinox, is Sept. 22. It’s one of “two times of the year when the Earth's axis is tilted neither toward nor away from the sun, resulting in a ‘nearly’ equal amount of daylight and darkness at all latitudes,” according to the National Weather Service’s website. “At the equator, the sun is directly overhead at noon on these two equinoxes,” it states. “The ‘nearly’ equal hours of day and night is due to refraction of sunlight or a bending of the light's rays that causes the sun to appear above the horizon when the actual position of the sun is below the horizon.” Corpus Christi news: Does your tap water have a funny smell or taste? Here's why. In South Texas, the first day of fall is nearly never called by a calendar date but signals a waiting spell for the first cool front of the season. It’s predicted that Corpus Christi’s daytime high the day the equinox
