WHITEWATER — Small business owner Brienne Brown, a Democrat, has joined the race for State Assembly District 43.

Also on the ballot in November are Dylan Kurtz (R-Janesville) and Scott Johnson (R-Jefferson).

The new Assembly District 43 includes Whitewater, Milton, Edgerton, Fulton, Harmony, Johnstown, Lima, Richmond, and Cold Spring.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for State Assembly District 43 and to continue my commitment to serve the people of Wisconsin,” said Brown said in a release this week.

Brown has lived in Whitewater for 12 years. She has served three terms on the Whitewater Common Council, served on the Whitewater Library Board for 11 years, and was on the board of the non-profit Downtown Whitewater, which worked to create the Tuesday night farmers market, Whitewater City Market. She was also program director for the Whitewater Community Foundation and helped to expand its operations to offer Community Action Grants.
