A hazy day in the Tri-Cities with unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups
Air quality this morning in the Tri-Cities is moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups. Anyone with respiratory issues should be mindful of going outside in the morning hours today as smoke from the Finley warehouse fire will linger in the eastern half of the Tri-Cities. Wednesday night will have a decent cold front push through the region dropping Thursday and Friday’s highs back to the mid and upper 60s. As the cold front creeps into the region, we will see some breezy to gusty winds through the second half of the week. Gusts will be strongest in the Kittitas Valley and the Columbia River Gorge with speeds of 25-35 MPH. This will help push the smoke further to the east away from the Tri-Cities through the afternoon. Evening lows will be in the upper 30s and low 40s. The smell of smoke and the hazy skies will likely persist through the weekend. Temps will take a step back into the upper 60s with a chance of stray showers Thursday evening into Friday morning behind the cold front.
