Farmer's Market opens June 11
Fresh, locally grown produce at reasonable prices will be available when the Johnson County Farmer's Market opens for its 41st year on June 11. The market is opening a little later than usual this year due to the recent rainy weather's effect on local farms according to Brian Jeffiers, agriculture and natural resources agent for the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension's Johnson County office.
Johnson County Democrats invite party for delegate elections
The Johnson County Democrats have issued a statement inviting all registered democrats in the county to join them for the selection of delegates on June 1. The statement said the gathering will be held at 10 a.m. in Tammy Barker’s office, located at 1641 Ky. Rt. 321 in Hager Hill and the delegates selected there will travel to the Democratic State Convention in Louisville on June 15. Officers for the Johnson County Democratic Executive committee will also be selected at the meeting.
Paintsville hosts fifth annual Casting with Kids event
PAINTSVILLE Ky. (WYMT) - Early on Saturday, June 1, hundreds of parents and kids gathered at Paintsville Lake State Park for the fifth annual Casting with Kids event. ‘Casting With Kids’ is funded by the proceeds generated from this year’s earlier Casting For Kids event, which raised thousands of dollars for the Shriners Hospital.
