Charges upgraded to capital murder against Prichard man accused of killing ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A grand jury has upgraded charges against a Prichard teenager accused of killing a man last year to capital murder. LaCedrick Napoleon Davis, 19, made an initial appearance to the new charge on Thursday. Because he was younger than 21 at the time, he is eligible for consideration as a “youthful offender,” which would seal his court records and limit any potential punishment to three years in prison. A judge on Thursday set a hearing on that issue for June 27.

Judge throws out murder charge against Mobile man charged with killing man in Semmes
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A judge on Thursday threw out a murder charge against a man who shot another man to death with a shotgun last year. Mobile County Circuit Judge Jill Phillips ruled that the evidence presented at a hearing Thursday indicated that the man who suffered the gunshot, Matthew Smith, was the aggressor during the February 2023 encounter.
