SMARTS announces summer arts workshop classes
Students Motivated by the Arts (SMARTS) announced it will host 22 paired PK-12 Summer Workshops taking place over the summer. SMARTS classes are offered in five arts disciplines—visual art, music, dance, theater, and creative writing, and the programs are structured to provide two strategically paired classes that compliment each other. For example, SMARTS From Heel to Toe is a dance class focusing on Tap, and is paired with SMARTS Understanding the Power of Movement, which explores the historical and cultural significance of dance for people all over the world.
Youngstown Playhouse celebrates 100 years with books, documentary on playhouse's history
2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the Youngstown Playhouse and a new project is looking to highlight the century-long history of the venue. The Playhouse announced "The Centennial Project" on Monday, May 13, which is comprised of two books, a 10-part documentary and a series of videos featuring one-on-one interviews with Playhouse actors and staff.
