A carnival in Weymouth was canceled for the rest of the weekend after multiple fights broke out on Friday night, carnival organizers said. Two people, including a juvenile, are facing charges related to the incident.

The Weymouth Spring Carnival, hosted by Fiesta Shows, was initially a five-day festival planned for Wednesday through Sunday at Weymouth High School on Wildcat Way. Fiesta Shows said no one was injured when fights broke out in the parking lot.

Weymouth police responded to control the crowd, which police said was difficult to disperse, around 7:44 p.m., according to Weymouth police. The large crowd of people pushed from the carnival into the parking lot. Multiple other departments — Abington, Rockland, Randolph, Quincy, Hingham, and Braintree — also responded to help control the crowd, Weymouth police said.

Initial reports also indicated that shots were fired, but Weymouth Police Captain John Perchard said the noise was most likely metal barricades being hit. The area was cleared around 10 p.m., Perchard said.

An 18-year-old from of Brockton, who Perchard identified as Nickdjesky Olivar, is facing assault and battery and disorderly conduct charges. Weymouth police did not name the juvenile, who was not arrested but is facing charges. The police did not specify what charges.

Perchard said the people fighting were mostly juveniles and young adults.

Fiesta Shows called the incident an “unprecedented occurrence” and canceled the carnival scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. In an update on Friday night, Fiesta Shows confirmed to patrons that no shots were fired.

“We maintain a large police and fire presence on-site as part of our normal security procedures to ensure that our patrons are safe at all times,” the company wrote on Facebook. “We are pleased that none of our guests or employees were injured in this incident. We feel bad for the good citizens and families of Weymouth that were enjoying their time at the carnival when this occurred.”

Fiesta Shows offered refunds for unredeemed tickets, but Fair Pass cards with ride credits could be used at all locations. Tickets for each day cost up to $45 for the carnival, which included multiple mechanical rides, games, and concessions.
