CHAMPLAIN — For the first time in five years, the Lake Placid Blue Bombers baseball team is back on top of the section for Class D. Lake Placid’s starting pitcher PJ Colby tossed a gem Thursday, May 25 to lead the Blue Bombers to a 8-2 victory over the Crown Point Panthers in the championship game of the Section VII, Class D tournament at the Northeastern Clinton High School baseball field.

VERGENNES — On a Tuesday afternoon not fit for man nor beast, never mind baseball, an exciting game of the latter nevertheless broke out at Vergennes Union High School, when the host Commodores needed eight innings to get past rival Mount Abraham, 11-10. Minutes before game time the sun shone, and the temperature stood around 70 degrees. Seemingly instantly, the mercury dropped 20 degrees. LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — The first championship field is set on the Section VII high school diamond. After a 12-7 win by No. 2 Crown Point High School over No. 3 Chazy High School and a 14-0 win by No. 1 Lake Placid High School over No. 5 Schroon Lake-Bolton's combo team, both schools will match up against each other in the Class D championship.
