Westover Business Alliance holds spring meeting

WESTOVER – On Thursday, April 25, the Westover Business Alliance held its spring meeting at the beautiful Bell Farm. Owners Sandy and Luke Cobb welcomed everyone to their facilities with open arms and the WBA shared that it was so fortunate to enjoy such a lovely venue on a beautiful spring day. Bell Farm is located in Sterrett, Alabama where they host weddings and many other events on the farm. The lunch was sponsored by WestRover Sports and Agility.

There were several guest speakers for the event. The invocation was given by Alex Lovorn, lead pastor at Union Community Church. The first speaker was Andrew VanZandt with D.H. Horton who shared several growth projects in Shelby County including the new subdivision on the corner of Highway 280 and County Road 51 in Westover.

The plan includes sites for 163 new homes, a park, walking track and will provide an option for affordable housing in the area. The name of the subdivision is called Stonehenge and the WBA shared it is excited for this growth in the community.

The second guest was Abby Litovsky with Legacy of Hope who spoke about the importance of being an organ donor. She shared stories of many lives that were saved and clarified some of the false information that has been told in the past. She demonstrated how it’s an easy process that will help so many others.

The third guest speaker was Saundra Ivey, interim executive director of the Shelby County Humane Society, who had the most interesting props of all, four chihuahua mix puppies that everyone fell in love with.

She shared the need for more adoptions or even foster homes for the many animals who reside there. Even if people want to just check out a dog and go for a walk, they can do so to help them get some exercise and time outdoors.

The last speaker was the WBA’s very own Jay Crisman with 280 Animal Clinic and he shared the news of his plans for expansion on the adjoining property he now owns. He plans to enlarge his area for the WestRover dog agility meets.
