NWS confirms multiple tornadoes touched down in southwest Louisiana on Monday
LAKE CHARLES - The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed tornado damage in southwest Louisiana from Monday afternoon. The tornado, confirmed to be an EF-1, touched down in Westlake and traveled six and a half miles, crossing I-10 into downtown Lake Charles. Several homes and businesses were damaged in its path.

Former Calcasieu Police Juror Dr. Charles Mackey dies
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Long-time former Calcasieu Police Juror Dr. Charles Mackey has died, according to Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. Mackey served on the jury from 1985 to 2011. He was also appointed to fill the vacant seat when Nic Hunter resigned to become mayor of Lake Charles in 2017. He served from May to July.
