    West Texas Symphony announces exciting lineup for 62nd season

    The West Texas Symphony has announced their musical program for the exciting 2024-2025 Season.

    Through the talent and dedication of over a hundred professional musicians, under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Gary Lewis, West Texas Symphony will continue to provide performances that enhance the quality of life for West Texas residents.

    “Our 62nd season is rock-solid!” Ethan Wills, Executive Director, said in a news release. “Whether you purchase a season subscription, donate, purchase a single concert ticket, or bring friends, you ensure quality musicianship remains in West Texas. Mark us in your calendars, purchase your tickets, and join us!”

    The season kicks off September 7 with “American Stories,” a celebration of William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 and special performance of Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto by featured cellist Ethan Blake.

    In October, the symphony will welcome acclaimed Mexican-American soprano Barbara Padilla to perform with the orchestra, whose stunning voice will captivate audiences of all musical tastes. In November, “Folk Tales” showcases popular repertoire by Richard Strauss and Edvard Grieg with featured pianist Dr. Andrew Cooperstock. In December, the orchestra presents West Texas’ favorite timeless holiday tradition, “Sounds of the Season.”

    Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsodie is paired with Beethoven’s Second Symphony in January for “Doves & Crocodiles,” the annual WTS Spotlight featuring Principal Clarinet of the West Texas Symphony, Chris Chance. In March, world-renowned singer/pianist/songwriter Tony Desare, presents “The Piano Show Featuring Rhapsody In Blue” with the symphony. At the April Masterworks finale, the orchestra will celebrate “The Riot Rite of Spring,” Igor Stravinsky’s famous work and the third iteration of the side-by-side performance with local students.

    Finishing the season is “Superman in Concert” accompanied by the power of the West Texas Symphony orchestra performing John Williams’ triumphant original score live to the film.

    For over six decades, the West Texas Symphony has been a pillar in the community by presenting world-class musicianship, beloved composers, and fun family experiences. The symphony invites every West Texan, and music-lover, to enrich their lives with quality, professional music this coming 2024-2025 Season.
