WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Jordan Blevins is as tough as they come. The West Vigo Junior has been battling synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer since August of 2019
first in his right arm and now in his lungs.

“It just recently it came back so now I’m going through chemo treatments, ” Jordan said.

Baseball has always been a huge part of Jordan’s life and the Blevins family. After being a part of the Vikings program his first 2 years in high school, Jordan had to take a step back as chemotherapy treatments ramped up.

“My brother and my cousin both played here throughout high school,” Blevins says. “My freshman and sophomore year I played here, this year I laid back to just focus on getting this cancer gone.”

Wednesday night’s game at Dick Ballinger Field between Sullivan and West Vigo was Jordan Blevins night. Jordan and his family were in attendance. The Vikings baseball program put on a bake sale, raffled off several items and sold concessions with all proceeds going to Blevins and his fight against cancer.

“The West Vigo community is great around here; they really support us. We love seeing everyone with the shirts on and know that everybody is behind us and feel like all the prayers help a lot,” Jordan’s mother Brook Blevins says.

Jordan will start another round of chemo treatments on Tuesday May 7th. West Vigo Head Coach Culley Degroote says West Vigo Baseball continues to be inspired by Jordan Blevins
and that they will continue to support him in any way they can.

“This means everything. This is one of those nights where it’s truly bigger than baseball, Degroote says. “We love Jordan we have so much respect for him because if you’re around him you would never know that he’s got some health issues. He’s a tough kid and we’re trying to everything we can to help him and his family out. I think tonight will be a big boost for them. It’s important for Jordan to know how many people are behind him and nights like this can do that for a kid.”

The Vikings raised $3,000 dollars for the Blevins family at Wednesday night’s game.
