Local TowerDIRECT ambulances are the first in Pennsylvania to carry blood and supplies for transfusions pre-hospital. TowerDIRECT ambulances, Tower Health’s nonprofit company, are the first in Pennsylvania to carry blood and supplies to be able to administer life-saving blood transfusions to patients en route to hospitals, writes Dave Mekeel for The Daily Local News.
Reading holds Thin Blue Line flag raising to honor law enforcement
READING, Pa. - The City of Reading honored law enforcement at a flag raising ceremony Friday. The Thin Blue Line flag was hoisted to the top of the flagpole in City Park. The flag is a black and white version of the United States flag with a single blue line going through it.

Trial scheduled for man accused of stabbing teen at Perkasie skatepark
A Pottstown man is headed to trial on charges stemming from a stabbing incident that occurred at a Perkasie skatepark last year. Court records show 20-year-old Nikolas Lore, formerly of Perkasie, has a trial scheduled for June 10 at 9 a.m. at the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. He is charged with one felony count of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, and reckless endangerment, stemming from the alleged incident.

The Animal Rescue League of Berks County is in need for foster families as the shelter already is seeing the effects of kitten season straining capacity at the shelter. Kitten season typically peaks during the spring and summer months, inundating shelters with litters of kittens in need of care and nurturing.
