The chase ended on Landfield Road in West Point when the driver exited the vehicle. According to Martin, the driver led the deputy on a brief foot chase before displaying a firearm toward the deputy.

The deputy shot the driver, who was transported to a local hospital. Martin said the deputy did not receive any serious physical injuries.
