(25News Now) - Today was the Illinois Girl’s Track State Championship on the famed blue oval at Eastern Illinois. Ali Ince capped off a sensational high school career with two more state titles in the 800 and 1600 to finish with ten Illinois state titles over her four years. Normal U-High also came away with the 2A Girl’s Team Championship after their performance today. 1A Elmwood/Brimfield’s Mya Strahm gets her 2nd straight state title in the pole vault, while Tri-Valley’s Laney Nelson comes in 1st in the Triple Jump.

Here are the Peoria-area Class 1A and 2A baseball teams that advanced from the Illinois High School Association regional title games on Saturday. How they won: Illini Bluffs got all the runs it needed in the third, beating host United 2-1 in Saturday's regional championship game. The Tigers (15-6) are in the sectional for a seventh successive season, looking for their first sectional crown since 2019. Ian O'Connor's single plated Grant Cruit and Will Giftos, who scored on an error. Bradley recruit Josh Vaughn did the rest. The senior pitcher struck out 18, walked one and gave up a single hit in facing two over the minimum.
Dramatic home run lifts Peoria Notre Dame baseball to first regional in 10 years
PEORIA — Lawson Alwan sent a screaming soaring blast over the right field fence that carried the Peoria Notre Dame baseball program to heights it hadn't reached in a decade. The left-handed hitting junior catcher came to the plate with Notre Dame trailing in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday, and belted a no-doubt two-run homer over the wall off a 2-1 pitch from righty reliever Miles Hoops.

PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria Notre Dame, Normal U-High, Peoria Richwoods, Morton, Normal Community and Bloomington Central Catholic all earn post-season soccer wins. Dunlap, Olympia, and Normal U-High are among the softball winners. Had the wrong team and goalie in the Normal U-High game--game was versus Metamora and the save was by Mariah Quinn.
Every Peoria-area tennis player to advanced to the IHSA boys state finals
Dunlap qualified both of its doubles teams plus two singles players Saturday for the IHSA boys tennis state finals next week in the Chicago area. Dunlap won its own Class 1A sectional for the seventh consecutive season and eighth time overall under coach Pat Gornik. The Eagles had 32 points, followed by Morton (27) and Peoria Christian (12).

Softball Recap: Makenna Ondrey can't quite lead Streator over East Peoria
Streator was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 7-1 to the East Peoria Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Streator of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2019.
