MIAMI - Monday heralds a hot and humid Memorial Day with highs in the low 90s under mostly sunny skies. It will feel like the triple-digits when you factor in the humidity. We are enjoying a dry start but later on a few storms will develop this afternoon. The rain chance rises tomorrow and the rest of the week with scattered storms possible every day. Highs will remain above average in the low 90s throughout the work and school week. This weekend will not be as hot with highs in the upper 80s Saturday. Child shot in Lauderhill
LAUDERHILL – A child was shot in front of a grocery store Monday morning.It happened at the Lauderhill Mall parking lot in front of the Fresco y Mas store off SR 7.According to witnesses, two drivers in front of the store got into an argument. Witnesses say, one of the drivers got out of his car and began shooting randomly.The child was struck in the foot, according to nurse Katrina Hamilton, who says she bumped into the child as everyone was running away."He was shooting everywhere," she said of the adult assailant. "We tumbled and that's when we saw a lot of blood. The child was hit in his foot."I stopped the bleeding. Took his shirt off and wrapped it around his foot until paramedics got there." According to fire rescue, the child was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.The boy has since been released from the hospital.Police are still looking for the shooter.
