BSO conduct criminal investigation, dig for clues in backyard of Pompano Beach home
POMPANO BEACH - Broward Sheriff's deputies dug up part of a rental home's backyard Monday. A BSO spokesperson would only say the agency "is conducting an active and ongoing criminal investigation," but "detectives are not releasing any additional details at this time."Still, what lies buried in the yard is a clear concern for neighbors."This goes way back," Yusko said. "It's hard to believe that there's some closure."Yusko shares a fence with the property where investigators brought a backhoe, shovels and other tools to dig Monday. Neighbors saw deputies move a shed to dig on the east side of the home last week. "(Detectives) said that they did have a prisoner here that had to bring here and he evidently pointed on (the west side) not the side they were digging on," Yusko said.Investigators returned with a warrant and details that moved Yusko to tears Monday. Authorities tore out part of a fence to dig for evidence in a 40-year-old missing person's case, Yusko said detectives told him."I hope (investigators) find somebody," Yusko said. "It hurts even as long as I've been here that somebody might be buried."Authorities did not confirm those details. Neighbors expect digging to resume as soon as Tuesday.
