All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

WEST MONROE, La. ( KTVE/KARD ) — On May 19, 2024, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a discharge of a firearm complaint in West Monroe, La. Once deputies arrived at the scene, they contacted a male victim and learned that the victim was reportedly robbed.

According to court documents, the victim met a female subject, later identified as 19-year-old Makieja A. Vallaire, online a few days before the alleged robbery. The victim and Vallaire exchanged phone numbers and planned to meet in person on May 17, 2024; however, the scheduling did not go as planned. The victim was reportedly contacted by Vallarie on May 18, 2024, and was advised that Valleire’s 16-year-old female friend wanted to meet the victim.

The victim then met Valleire’s friend at his home and observed Valleire, another female subject, and one male subject exiting the friend’s vehicle and walking toward the victim and Valleire’s friend. According to authorities, they learned that the male subject allegedly produced a handgun and demanded that the victim give him his wallet.

Once the victim gave the male subject his wallet, the victim managed to slap the handgun out of the male subject’s hand and the firearm discharged. Valleire, Valleire’s friend, and the two other subjects ran to the suspect vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. The victim went to his vehicle and retrieved a firearm for his protection.

The male subject in the suspect vehicle allegedly fired his handgun at the victim and the victim returned fire. The suspects then fled the scene; however, three of the suspects later returned.

According to court documents, the suspects asked the victim to help them get their vehicle out of the mud, and the victim asked the suspects to return his wallet. Authorities were advised that the victim’s wallet was returned shortly before deputies arrived at the scene.

Authorities were advised by one of the suspects that the subjects drove to Monroe, La. from Arcadia, La. The three friends included Vallaire, 19-year-old Demetria McCune, who was arrested at the scene, and a male juvenile who is reportedly wanted by officials.

Before the alleged incident, Vallaire’s 16-year-old friend was advised that Vallaire was talking to an older male subject on Tinder, and that he was going to give Vallaire money. Vallaire then allegedly advised her friend that the victim wanted to have sexual intercourse with the minor.

Vallaire’s friend was then told that the victim was going to give them $60 “up front” for sexual favors. When the subjects arrived at the victim’s home, Vallaire’s friend was instructed to get into the victim’s vehicle, get the money, and Vallaire would come to the victim’s vehicle.

Once Vallaire entered the victim’s vehicle, she became uncomfortable and decided to talk to the victim outside of the victim’s truck. The other three suspects then exited the suspect vehicle and allegedly took the victim’s wallet. Shots were fired during the incident; however, Vallaire’s friend claimed that she did not see who fired the shots.

Vallaire’s friend allegedly confirmed that the suspect vehicle got stuck in the mud while attempting to flee the scene. The four suspects attempted to get the car out of the mud but were unsuccessful. Vallaire’s friend returned the money and the wallet to the victim so he could help the suspects get the vehicle out of the mud.

During the investigation, Monroe Police confirmed that a similar robbery occurred on May 17, 2024. Authorities obtained a photo of the social media profile of the suspect in that case and Vallaire was identified in the photo. The victim of that case also viewed the photo and identified Vallaire as the alleged suspect. McCune was also identified as a suspect in other robbery cases in Ouachita Parish.

Vallaire and McCune were transported to the Ouachita Correctional for the following offenses:

    Makieja A. Vallaire (Bond: $300,000)

    • Trafficking Children for Sex
    • Two counts of Criminal Conspiracy

    Demetria D. McCune (Bond: $242,500)
