As incumbent Rep. Jules Walters, D-West Linn , nears $50,000 in campaign contributions in her race for reelection, her opponent in the May 21 primary, Brian Maguire , is opting to self-fund his campaign.

According to campaign finance records from the Oregon Secretary of State’s office, Walters’ campaign has received $49,000 in donations since the 2022 general election when she won her house seat.

Maguire has no campaign transactions reported with the Secretary of State’s office. He told the Tidings via email that he is self-funding the campaign but will soon report expenses with the state.

According to the campaign finance records, the largest donation Walters has received in this race was $10,000 from the Local 48 Electricians PAC. The next largest was $5,000 from the Oregon Health Care Association PAC.

On the other side of the aisle, Ben Edtl, the only Republican running for House District 37 , has raised $8,300 since the 2022 election, when he lost a bid for Senate District 19. The winner of May’s primary will go on to face Edtl in the November general election.
