Driver of wrong-way police pursuit in custody, charges pending
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — New information has surfaced in the case of a 40-mile wrong-way police chase that started in Sidney and ended with a crash in Dayton. Countless lives were put at risk as the chase coursed through several counties. Police say it took drones, stop sticks and a lot of coordination between departments to stop and arrest the suspect finally.
Traffic Stop Turns Into Drug Arrest
A standard traffic stop by Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies Friday resulted in a drug arrest. Sara Groves, 36, of Lima, was pulled over by deputies driving south on State Route 235 near County Road 87. The initial cause for the stop was due to an excessively loud exhaust pipe on her white van.
Pitts Arrested for Possession; Receiving Stolen Property
Bellefontaine Police were alerted to a stolen vehicle Saturday on North Detroit Street in Bellefontaine. During routine patrol, officers spotted the red Chevy 2500 pick-up truck that was reported stolen and initiated the traffic stop. During the stop, they also found a container of methamphetamine. Groves Arrested Again on Drug Charges
Monday afternoon, Sarah Groves, 36, of Lima, was seen in Lakeview, at the Clark Gas Station, in a vehicle with a loud exhaust. Deputies initiated a traffic stop due to the illegal exhaust. Groves and her passenger stepped out of the vehicle and claimed there wasn’t anything illegal inside.

Charlie was surrendered by her owner who was unemployed and could no longer afford to keep her. She is a beautiful long-haired cat who had to be shaved because her fur was so badly matted. It will just take a few months to grow back, and then she will be as beautiful as ever! She is a very playful, curious, and adventurous cat, who was so happy to be out of quarantine, and has been busy exploring her new room ever since! She’s very sweet and loving and would be a wonderful addition to any family!
Domestic Dispute Leads to Arrest
A domestic dispute at a home on Brown Street in Bellefontaine resulted in an arrest on Sunday. Police say Lee Yelton, 37, of Bellefontaine, grabbed one of the victims in the back of the neck during a dispute. When a second individual tried to intervene, Yelton grabbed that person by the arm, leaving scratches and bruises. When the victims took a child and attempted to leave the area, Yelton took the child to another family member’s home before returning.
Lakeview Council Handles Light Agenda
Monday evening, the Lakeview Village Council met briefly at the firehouse. Council members heard several short updates including one from Zoning Officer, Gary Bias. Bias told the council that he has been fielding several phone calls about tornado recovery efforts and has issued eleven permits, including two rebuild permits and nine demolitions. He also reported that several properties in the village need to be mowed.
Sidney man sentenced to 11 months in prison
SIDNEY — The Shelby County Common Pleas Court recently handed down several sentences for domestic violence, theft, forgery and drugs, among other charges. Adrian M. Franklin, 42, of Sidney, was sentenced to 11 months in prison, with four days of jail credit granted, on one count attempted domestic violence, a fifth degree felony. Franklin was indicted on two counts domestic violence, a fourth degree felony, for causing physical harm to a son and a female victim with whom he was cohabitating after a previous conviction of assault. One count was dismissed.
