Northern Forest Center plans 29-unit housing development
GREENVILLE — The Northern Forest Center has purchased five acres of land in downtown Greenville and plans to build housing to serve the local workforce. The housing project plan seeks to develop 29 units of new housing that incorporate a mix of multi-family buildings, duplexes, and single-family homes to be built over the next three years. The Center hopes to use the project to demonstrate the environmental and economic benefits of utilizing mass timber construction.

CANAAN, Maine — The Somerset County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday said it broke up yet another illegal marijuana growing operation in a rural part of Maine. Officers seized more than 30 pounds of processed marijuana and 859 plants from a residence in Canaan on Hinckley Road, the sheriff's office said, adding no people were found.
Monson Arts high school program gallery show opening reception
MONSON — Monson Arts will be hosting a free open reception for the high school program’s student gallery show “Carved Moments” from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 3. This show is a culmination of the 15-session, academic school year program at Monson Arts in partnership with seven local high schools: Greenville Consolidated, Piscataquis Community, Foxcroft Academy, Penquis Valley, Central, Dexter, and Nokomis. Each school sends a select group of 3-5 students working in two sections: visual artists and writers.
