Herkimer Survives the Cannoneers Heavy Artilery in Game 3; Winning the NJCAA Division III Region 3A Tournament
CLINTON, N.Y. -- The Herkimer Generals Softball team punched its ticket to the NJCAA Division III World Series on Friday, with an exciting come-from-behind victory over Jefferson Community College, 15-12. The Cannoneers came out of the gates hot, building a 3-0 advantage in the top of the third inning. However, the Generals answered right back in the bottom of the inning, starting with a lead-off triple from Alexys Rosick.
Herkimer eighth grader Leah Bray notches 200th career strikeout
Herkimer softball pitcher Leah Bray, an eighth grader, recorded her 200th career strikeout in a 6-5 win over host Little Falls on Thursday in a Center State Conference game. Bray earned the win with a complete game effort, striking out 11. She allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks. The milestone comes exactly three weeks after she earned her 100th career strikeout.
Sauquoit wins low-scoring baseball game against Frankfort-Schuyler
Sauquoit Valley baseball scored two runs in the bottom of the first and made it hold up in a 2-1 win against Frankfort-Schuyler on Tuesday in the Center State Conference. Andrew Price went all seven innings to earn the win, allowing an earned run in the sixth. He gave up five hits and walked four.
Herkimer Softball Splits Doubleheader with Jefferson CC, 4-3 and 15-3; Game 3 Set for Friday Afternoon
CLINTON, N.Y. -- The Herkimer Generals and the Jefferson Cannoneers split their doubleheader of the NJCAA Division III Region 3A Final, 4-3 and 15-3. Herkimer took a 3-1 advantage into the top of the seventh inning in Game 1, but surrendered three bases loaded walks to Jefferson, allowing the Cannoneers to take a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh.
Section III boys tennis team playoffs: Jamesville-DeWitt edges undefeated New Hartford in final match
The Jamesville-DeWitt boys tennis squad was running late to its Class B championship match versus New Hartford on Thursday. The Red Rams were delayed because some of the player sere taking a biology exam. Once J-D arrived at the Utica Parkway Tennis Courts, the team had to quickly warm up.
