WEST COLUMBIA, WV (WOWK) – Three people have been taken to the hospital after a crash in Mason County.

According to the Mason Volunteer Fire Department, the crash happened shortly after 11:15 a.m. Tuesday on Route 62 at the intersection of Lieving Road in West Columbia. Three vehicles were involved.

Firefighters say one patient was trapped in a vehicle and had to be cut out. They say one person was transported for medical treatment by ambulance, and two were flown from the scene. According to Mason County Sheriff Corey Miller, some of the patients’ injuries are considered serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

The Mason and New Haven Volunteer Fire Departments responded, and the Point Pleasant Fire Department set up the landing zone for the helicopters in Lakin. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Meigs County EMS also responded.

The MCSO says the roadway has reopened.
