A Provincetown Send-off for Stormy Mayo
Charles” Stormy” Mayo says his career resulted from serendipity and luck. The bio-hero retires from the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) in Provincetown this month, where he has been its program director, senior scientist, and chair of the Department of Ecology over the course of his time there since co-founding it in 1976 with geologist Graham Geise and Mayo’s late wife Barbara Schuler Mayo who suggested it. At the time he’d been thinking of leaving science to build a schooner. (He eventually built it and it is now floating in Provincetown harbor.)

Dennis shows support for recreational marijuana shops, but measure falls short
SOUTH YARMOUTH — A Dennis town meeting vote Tuesday night to allow recreational marijuana shops in town failed by a vote of 130-98, shy of a two-thirds majority required on the citizens' petition warrant article. The 57% favorable vote was short about 20 votes of passing. Dennis resident Kyle Pedicini, who presented the petition, said he was pleased that more 50% of town meeting voters were in favor of lifting the ban. ...

Town Lays Out Plan For Summer Sewer Work
ORLEANS – Summer’s almost here, but sewering will continue in parts of the Meetinghouse Pond area into the fall. Work will continue May 20 with force main installation along Finlay Road, which Assistant Town Planner Michael Solitro said is expected to take about six weeks to complete. Other areas targeted for work this summer include Nauset Farms Way, Cole Place, Baxter Lane and the town hall parking lot, where a pump station servicing the area is being installed.
