The Howl Takes Center Stage!
Setting the mood for many school events with music, the band plays a big role with the atmosphere at Ridgeview High School. With performing at football games, competitions and other performances it can be a lot that goes unnoticed. A band is way more than just the music they make. Behind every practice and performance there is an instructor guiding students through everything. Many students who are not very familiar with band might not know all of the perseverance that goes into being in band. Band is more than just an elective, it requires time and dedication. The Howl is a band competition hosted at Ridgeview High School and will take place on October 31, 2026. Many schools will participate in the chance to be seen and recognized for their skills.

Ridgeviews Two New Faces and One Familiar Leader
Ridgeview High School is a place where many students come to grow and learn to become successful. Since the opening in 1994, there has never been a school year with three deans until the 2027 school year. Everyone has a role at Ridgeview, but the deans have one of the most important roles in keeping Ridgeview safe. Although most people see the deans as discipline enforcers, that is not always the case. Encouraging good behavior and enforcing discipline are part of a dean’s job, but that is not all they do. This year, Ridgeview’s three deans are Shannon Barnes, Deb Whitbey, and Suzie Kim.

Bakersfield football stays unbeaten after downing Tulare Union
TULARE — The Tulare Union High School football team lost 49-27 to undefeated Bakersfield on Sept. 18 in a non-league game at Bob Mathias Stadium. Here are three takeaways from the game. Bakersfield is one of the Central Section's best teams Unbeaten Bakersfield (4-0) is loaded. And if the Drillers can continue to run the ball downhill as they did against Tulare Union, they'll be hard to contain the rest of the season. Bakersfield found the end zone almost immediately. Junior running back Damir Lomax busted loose for a 43-yard touchdown on just the game's third offensive play from scrimmage. That gave the Drillers a quick 7-0 lead after Jack K'Miller's extra-point kick. Lomax is one of the Central Section's elite playmakers this season. He scored four total touchdowns, also reaching the end zone on 10- and 13-yard runs. He punctuated his outstanding outing versus Tulare Union with a 96-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. Lomax — who has scholarship offers from Oregon State, Idaho, and UNLV — ran for a game-high 168 yards on just 14 carries. He averaged 12 yards a carry. Bakersfield rushed for 301 yards as a team on 21 attempts, averaging nearly 10 yards
