Clean California Tire Drop Off Day is May 4
Kern County Public Works, in partnership with Caltrans' District 9, will be hosting a Clean California Tire Drop Off Day Saturday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until capacity is reached. Throughout that day, residents will have the opportunity to drop off tires at the Ridgecrest Landfill free of charge.

Burroughs swimmers competed and succeeded at Finals meet
The Ridgecrest Burroughs Girls & Boys Varsity Swim Teams "finished strong with individual and teamwork" in the Desert Sky League (DSL) Finals at Silverado High School on Wednesday, April 24th, against Adelanto High School, Apple Valley High School, Cobalt Institute, Granite Hills High School, Silverado High School, University Prep, and Victor Valley High School. Each team traveled with only five available and strong swimmers; both finished third but dominated the competition by winning eight league champions, two runner-up league champions, eight personal records, one Girls Division 4 CIF Consideration qualification, and three Boys Division 3 CIF Consideration qualifications. In the first week of May, the teams will compete in numerous individual and relay events in the CIF Divisions 3 and 4 Preliminary at Mt. San Antonio College.

After over a year CL construction project nearing completion
In March 2023, the City of Ridgecrest contracted Everlevel Holdings Inc. for a sewer rehabilitation project. After over a year of construction, the project is nearing completion. According to Everlevel Holdings Inc.’s superintendent, George Zunich, the project is expected to be completed by the end of May.
Public Works provides update on Sierra Way
Recently the Public Works department at Kern County gave an update on the status of repairs at Sierra Way. On Wednesday April17, the head of the project for Sierra Way repairs met with a consultant and Granite Construction, the contractor on the project, to discuss the design on the ten year flood project.

Art Contest Building a Fire Resilient Future
On Saturday, May 4, 2024 the Kern Fire Safe Council, Kern County Fire Department and the US Forest Service will be hosting a Wildfire Awareness Day in Kernville, CA. Burros track and field have 17 qualify for CIF
After finishing the Mojave River League meets, the 2024 MRL champions Burroughs girls and the boys track and field teams turned their attention to the MRL Finals meet at Oak Hills. The Burros went into the event knowing they had a chance to qualify for CIF-SS Division 3 Preliminary meet at Yorba Linda High School on Thursday, May 4th.
