Built in the 1890s and named for its mansard gable roof, the Mansard Hotel was on the corner of Main and Center streets. Fifty-five years ago, it burned to the ground. In July 1969, mayhem at the Mansard ensued with a deadly blaze and political war between the fire department, city officials, and Mansard management.
Adaptive and sensory swimming to be offered at Russell Sims
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new program is starting this summer with Bowling Green Parks & Rec, offering adaptive and sensory swim time. On select Tuesdays, time will be offered to those who have disabilities to have a less stimulating time at the pool. Russell Sims Aquatic Center will open early from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. to facilitate a smaller population and less noise. It’s a new program but not a new mission for the department.
