SPOONER – There have been changes made in the WIAA Softball Regionals for the Spooner Rails in Division 3, Shell Lake Lakers in Division 4 and Northwood/Solon Springs Fusion in Division 5. Spooner: The Spooner girls will now play Cumberland tonight, Monday, May 20, at 5 p.m. in Spooner. Shell Lake: The Laker softball Regional has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 22, at 5 p.m. The Lakers will host Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at Shell Lake. Northwood/Solon Springs: Northwood/Solon Springs has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 21, at Solon Springs at 5 p.m. against Prentice.

Shell Lake hanging baskets will soon adorn the city
SHELL LAKE — Soon, Shell Lake’s Main Street and beach lampposts will be adorned with gorgeous hanging baskets from Yellow River Gardens. Linda Berger has been planting and nurturing the wave and super-petunias since February. Shell Lake’s city crew will hang the baskets around Memorial Day, weather-permitting. Drug investigation results in four local arrests
After a four-month investigation into drug activity throughout Sawyer, Washburn and Barron Counties, four persons have been arrested, according to the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police Department.
