Webster man pleads guilty to deadly hit-and-run crash

A Webster man pleaded guilty for causing a hit-and-run crash that killed a cyclist in Webster last summer.

Ryan Laduca, 36, pleaded guilty last week to leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a person's death and tampering with physical evidence, both felonies, according to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office. The charges followed a months-long investigation for the hit-and-run crash that killed Pamela Rubenstein, 57, of Webster.

Rubenstein and another cyclist were riding on the south shoulder of Klem Road, near Five Mile Line Road, around 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 22, 2023 when an eastbound vehicle struck Rubenstein from behind, according to Webster Police.

The involved vehicle left the scene and Rubenstein was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she died from her injuries two days later

Laduca is scheduled to be sentenced on July 17 by Monroe County Court Judge Michael Dollinger. Laduca faces between 1 1/2 and 4 1/2 years in state prison, according to the DA's Office.
