Webster raises money for student in need of kidney, Thomas boys lax tops Schroeder

WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On the field, Thomas boys lacrosse took down Schroeder 12-4 in a rivalry showdown.

But outside the lines, the two high schools came together to raise money for one of their own.

Austin Tordei is a Thomas junior who is in need of a kidney transplant . Shirts and bracelets were sold at the event and donations were taken for the family to help with their medical expenses. Those wishing to support the cause can donate to @Suzanne-Herko-Tordai on Venmo.

The Titans pitched a shutout in the first quarter, taking a 3-0 lead into the second quarter.

Schroeder scored twice in the frame, but Thomas had four of their own to lead 7-2 at halftime.

Thomas extended their lead in the third quarter, moving in front 10-3 at the end of the third quarter before cruising to an eight-goal win.

Thomas had a balanced scoring attack with eight players scoring two or one goal each. Jagger Altieri, Reid Doolittle, Brett Mersdorf, and Brandon Trottier all scored a pair while Nicolas Ange, Mason Mylott, Jake Polizzi, and Joseph Tiberio found the back of the net once.

Anthony DeRosa had three goals and an assist for Schroeder while Nate Schilling had the other Warrior goal.

Thomas (3-6) will travel to Penn Yan on Thursday, May 1st. Schroeder (4-6) will hit the road to take on Honeoye Falls-Lima on Friday, May 2nd.
