5 Webb City seniors sign letters of intent

Emily Countryman, Barron Duda, Connor Gayman, Shaun Hunt, and Levi Lassiter sign to become collegiate athletes.

WEBB CITY, Mo. -- Five Webb City seniors sign letters of intent on Wednesday afternoon to officially become collegiate athletes.

Emily Countryman signs with Missouri Southern cross country + track and field.

Barron Duda signs with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M basketball.

"[NEO] had come to a few practices throughout the season," Duda says. "Towards the end of the season, we started talking more -- I went on a visit. When I got the offer, I was super excited and ready to commit."

Conner Gayman signs with Missouri Valley College football.

"For a long time, I didn't think I would be able to sign somewhere or earn a scholarship," Gayman says. "I've been putting in hard work day and night... if somebody is getting better and I'm not, then I'm wrong."

Shaun Hunt signs with John Woods Community College baseball.

"I've worked since I was about 13 years old to get to this point," Hunt says. "It's just the next step forward in the process -- I'm not done here."

Levi Lassiter signs with Pittsburg State's newly formed golf team.

"My first two seasons, I didn't even think about college golf," Lassiter says. "I heard of the Pitt State golf program starting back up, and it inspired me to want to pursue collegiate golf ... I'm going to be so proud to be a Gorilla -- I feel like this is the opportunity I've been waiting for."
