WAYNESVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – Waynesville soccer, cross country and track star Sam Erbach is the 2023-24 Penn State Athlete of the Year!

“It’s awesome. You know, with all of these really good athletes it’s hard, but it’s really awesome to get it,” said Erbach.

Erbach, the Xavier commit for soccer and track, is the Waynesville Spartans’ record-holder for most career goals in the program’s history.

She is also First Team All-State in all three sports. Erbach helped lead the Spartans soccer team to their first ever state title in 2021 and a state runner-up finish in 2022.

Over four years, Erbach was part of senior class for the Spartans that posted an impressive 76-8-1 record.

In cross country, Erbach led the Spartans to an 8th place finish at the 2022 state tournament with her runner-up finish.
