WAHS Student Athlete Heads to Naval Academy
Western Albemarle High School senior Hailey Hodson will be taking the road less-traveled when she enrolls at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland this fall. She was recruited by the USNA in part for her blazing speed and versatility as a cross country and track athlete, skills that have helped propel Western’s teams to continued statewide dominance during her tenure.

Western Crew Looking Stellar in First Races
The Western Albemarle High School crew team traveled to High Point, North Carolina, April 20 for the North Carolina State Rowing Championships regatta. With most of the scullers rowing two events, the team entered 43 boats in 29 events. Western dominated the sculling events, bringing home 31 medals, 14 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze. Some of the team’s younger rowers medaled multiple times. The team also brought home the Craig Redinger Mens Youth Double Trophy, named after the team’s head coach. Two women rowers captured gold for WAHS in their single events.
