Hurley Memorial Day Parade
HURLEY- The Town of Hurley’s annual Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 27, 2024. The staging area – the THikit print shop at 185 Zandhoek Road (formerly St. John’s Mission) – will open at 9 a.m. May 27. Participants should arrive no later than 9:15 a.m., entering from Zandhoek Road and parking in the grassy area on the right.

NY weather: Air quality alert for Ulster and Dutchess counties Wednesday
An air quality alert was issued in effect until 11 p.m. for Ulster and Dutchess counties. According to the National Weather Service, "The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at Albany has issued a Air Quality Health Advisory for Ground Level Ozone until 11 p.m. this evening.Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for Ground Level Ozone. The air quality index or AQI was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern.When pollution levels are elevated the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young and those with pre existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician."

The Flavorful Ladle in Highland, NY opened in 2019 and maintained a 4.5-star rating on both Yelp and Google. When they closed in 2022, the convenience of a restaurant on Route 44 just feet from Rocking Horse Ranch in Highland, NY vanished for local residents. Luckily, new owners have stepped in with a new name and new business model.
