An eventful day filled with bingo, fair queens, cornhole and food trucks is coming to Wattsburg this weekend.

It’s the Erie County Fair’s second annual Food Trucks at the Fairgrounds at 13993 Route 8 & 89 in Wattsburg.

The event will take place May 4 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Purse bingo opens at 4:30 p.m. and begins at 6 p.m.

The second annual food truck event precedes the six-day Erie County Fair at the fairgrounds in Wattsburg on Aug. 26-31.

“It was a great turnout as last year was two days in the middle of the summer,” said Kyle Woods, an Erie County Fair board member. “We’re definitely battling other events around in the area, but we had a great turnout. We’re pairing with the purse and sportsman’s bingo this year so we’re hoping to get a larger turnout.”

The event is free, but purse bingo players must have tickets purchased in advance while bingo tickets are $35.

The fairgrounds will also be lined up with food trucks.

    Food trucks expected

Food trucks on deck for the fairground this year include:

    • Brady’s Chuckwagon
    • Spanglish Skillet
    • Walley Sue’s Main Squeeze Lemonade
    • Dig In
    • Kinzua Kookie Doe
    • Tabula Street Eatz
    • Kona Ice
    • Full House Erie
    • French Creek Kettle Korn

More food trucks are anticipated, as well. Applications for food truck vendors were still being accepted as of April 30.

    Cornhole tournament

On top of food truck and flea market vendors, this year the food trucks event will include a cornhole tournament.

This tournament will benefit the Wattsburg County Fair queens and will be hosted by the 2023 queen.

The top three places in the tournament will receive cash prizes.

    Flea market at fairgrounds

The fair also marks the first weekend of the flea market on the fairgrounds.

Wood said that 15 craft vendors will be attending.

“We’re definitely anticipating a larger turnout,” Woods said. “It’s a busy weekend in the town as it is their yard sale days. This year it’s a free event, so we’re hoping to get more people to come and check out the fairgrounds and what we have to offer this weekend.”
