Sidney council reviews ICAP recommendation against filling swimming pools
(Sidney) -- Liability concerns have prompted insurance providers to caution the city of Sidney from having the fire department fill up swimming pools. During its regular meeting Monday, the Sidney City Council reviewed a recommendation from the Iowa Community Assurance Pool, or ICAP, that recommended not having the fire department fill swimming pools due to the increased liability risk. In the past, the volunteer department has utilized its rural pumper truck, which is insured by the rural board of trustees and through ICAP, to fill pools inside city limits and the surrounding townships. However, Sidney Mayor Justin Shirley says they had asked the city's insurance agent to send the topic through ICAP after the fire department began receiving more calls about filling pools outside its fire district.

OPPD crews respond to power outages across Nebraska as severe storms roll through, 450 customers still without power
OMAHA, Neb. — OPPD crews are responding to power outages as severe weather moves across theOmaha metro area Saturday evening. According to the Omaha Public Power District, more than 2,200 residents in Sarpy County lost power around 7:27 p.m. OPPD says those customers were between Town Center Dr. and Platteview Dr., from 29th St. to Hwy 75.
