Senior Aspen Reynolds celebrates first hole-in-one with a splash

Have you been trying to figure out a good way to celebrate your first hole-in-one in golf ?

Some people have waited a long time and may never get the same opportunity that Watertown High School senior girls golfer Aspen Reynolds and some of her teammates did recently at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

On Monday, May 6, Reynolds and the Arrows were practicing at CCGC when Reynolds (a four-year varsity regular for the Arrows) notched her first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 6 hole on the Yellow course.

Senior teammate Avery Palmquist used her phone to take a video of Reynolds pulling the ball out of the cup and also kept rolling for what came next.

What was that you ask? It was Reynolds, senior Shelby Pearson and freshman Gabi Olson making a beeline for the water pond near the green and jumping in. You can hear the wind howling and it doesn't particularly look like it was a warm day.

It was just another memorable moment in what has been a good season for the Arrows, who have been battling Mitchell and Aberdeen Central for top honors throughout the season.

The three teams are expected to lead the way in next week's Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament and also in the state Class AA tournament June 3-4. Both tourneys will be held at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.

The Arrows made their only home appearance of the season on Tuesday when they hosted the Watertown Invitational at CCGC. Watertown finished second behind Aberdeen Central in the meet.

Reynolds made the most of her final home appearance of her career by tying for third with a xxx to lead the Arrows with a 78.
