JCC names 2 athletes of the Week April 22-28, 2024

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Jefferson Community College’s athlete of the Week is a two for one special once again for the Week Ending April 28, 2024, as both sophomore pitcher, Emily E. Birmingham and sophomore golfer, Kacy A. Lennox share the title.

Birmingham, a 2022 graduate of Pulaski High School, is majoring in Sports Management at JCC.

Birmingham’s accomplishments on the field and mound this past week included being one of the most consistent hitters in the lineup, always hitting the ball hard.  She hit 5 doubles and had 12 RBIs. Additionally, Birmingham has been a leader in the circle adding to her win total on the year (8) striking out 26 batters.  Not only does she lead the pitching staff in wins, but she also leads the offense in RBIs with 30.

Lennox, a 2022 graduate of General Brown High School, is majoring in Business Administration at JCC.

Lennox’s accomplishments on the course this past week included shooting a 77, helping the Cannoneers take the Jamestown Invitational. The next day at Niagara, Lennox would be JCC’s medalist on a windy and rainy day, shooting an 82 in tough conditions to help the Cannoneers to a second-place finish. The Cannoneers finished second or first all season long and Lennox has been a major factor in the Cannoneer’s success. He is currently averaging an 84 after 6 competitions.

The Cannoneers’ next game will be on Thursday, May 2 at 2 p.m. at home against Finger Lakes Community College.
