WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – The Watertown Saturday Farmers Market announces its 25th anniversary season, opening on May 18, 2024.

The Saturday Farmers Market was founded in 1999 by local farmers who recognized the need for a convenient, family-friendly Saturday market, becoming a cornerstone of the community, serving busy families and Fort Drum Soldiers.

Its current location is at the Butler Pavilion on Black River Parkway and stands as an essential resource in downtown Watertown, connecting consumers directly with local farmers and producers. Over 20 local food producers will participate this year with a few new surprises to include microgreens, sourdough bread and a Mexican food truck.

Our mission has always been to provide fresh, locally produced food to our community in a friendly and accessible environment,” says Michael Nuckols, the current volunteer market manager, “ We’re proud to have grown alongside Watertown, serving generations of families and supporting our local farmers.”

The market will be open every Saturday from May 18 to October 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Because food at the market is local, the selection and variety of produce changes seasonally, starting with greens and flowers in the spring through sweet corn and tomatoes in July to fall pumpkins and apples in October.

Our food is truly local. Many people are surprised at the variety of foods that our market offers, ” says Nuckols, “ Food lovers will find everything from gourmet mushrooms to Asian greens to heirloom tomatoes. One vendor sells lamb grazed in solar installations. We have vendors selling cut flowers picked the night before – so you’ll know they will last. If you are looking to support our local farmers and food producers, we guarantee you’ll find something to love.

To celebrate its anniversary, the market is offering shoppers free reusable shopping bags, while supplies last. For more information about the Watertown Saturday Farmers Market, you can visit their website or Facebook .
