Watertown man pleads guilty to drug charge, could face life sentence & $8 million fine

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 44-year-old Watertown man could face life in prison and an $8 million fine after pleading guilty on Monday, April 22.

Stuart Chambers pleaded guilty attempted possession of methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to distribute. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the charges stem from an incident on January 30 where Chambers admitted traveling from Watertown to Syracuse in order to buy  a pound of methamphetamine and nine ounces of cocaine.

Chambers also admitted he intended to distribute the drugs. He was arrested as part of an investigation conducted by DEA and other law enforcement agencies. Chambers further admitted that he had previously been convicted in federal court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania of Possessing controlled substances with the intent to distribute.

He will be sentenced on August 20 and could face up 10 years to life in prison and may receive a fine of $8 million.

The investigation was done with the help of other law enforcement agencies such as Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force, and the New York and Pennsylvania state police.
