WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) — According to a City of Watertown press release, the segment of Cooper Street between Lynde Street West and Mill Street will close to vehicular traffic during the morning and early afternoon hours of Wednesday, April 17 through to Friday, April 19.

Motorists are encouraged to use Davidson Street and Main Street West as alternate routes.

The City Contractor will close the affected parts of Cooper Street and Lynde Street West starting between 7 and 8 a.m. and will reopen the streets at about 3:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter on each of these dates.

The closure is to facilitate the demolition of a condemned structure on this block that presents a hazard to public safety. The city apologizes for the inconvenience to all those affected by this closure and will provide further updates if necessary.

The city’s contractor will make every effort to accommodate local traffic entering and leaving the other properties on this segment of Cooper Street; however, access cannot be guaranteed if demolition activities are in a critical stage.
