The Roche Bros. grocery store chain was recently the target of another wave of credit card skimmers, the Mansfield-based chain announced last week. Skimmers were found at nearly half of all Roche Bros. locations.

Roche Bros. said skimmers were found at checkouts in nine locations. The devices were removed from the Wellesley, Watertown, Bridgewater, Westwood, Natick, Downtown Crossing, Sudbury, Needham, and West Roxbury stores on April 24 and 25.

Skimmers, devices surreptitiously affixed to payment terminals, can steal card details to send to a third party. Roche Bros. said that, to their knowledge, no private information was compromised.

After a skimmer was found at the Wellesley location, staff across all Roche Bros. locations checked for skimmers, the company said. In a press release, the supermarket chain said the skimmers were “swiftly intercepted” during their daily security checks.

The chain said the skimmer found at their Bridgewater store was found just three minutes after it was placed.

“We are immensely proud of the vigilance and dedication demonstrated by our store teams in safeguarding our customers’ payment data,” CEO Kevin Barner said in a statement.

This isn’t the first time Roche Bros. had to remove the devices that steal credit card information. Late last year, the chain found skimmers at their Sudbury Farms location in Needham, Brothers Marketplace in Weston, and Roche Bros. locations in Wellesley and Natick.
