    Former coach, athletic director, to be toastmaster at Waterloo Alumni Banquet

    Doug Riesop will serve as toastmaster at the Waterloo High School alumni banquet on Saturday, May 18, in the High School cafeteria.

    Riesop was president of his class when he graduated in 1969. He attended UW-Platteville from 1969-1973, majoring in Safety Education and Physical Education. While at Platteville, he played basketball for 2 years. In 1975, he attended UW-Oshkosh to obtain a major in physical education and was also on the baseball coaching staff.

    After a year teaching Driver Education at Brillion High School, Riesop was at Slinger High School from 1976 to 2009, teaching PE, Driver Ed, Health, and running the Learning Center. He became the head boys basketball coach after having served as the varsity assistant, the JV coach, and the Grade 7-8 coach for both boys and girls.

    He also coached the JV baseball and softball teams. Riesop was the Slinger Athletic Director for 15 years prior to his retirement. He served as President of the Little Moraine Middle School Conference and was honored as the WIAA District IV Athletic Director of the Year.

    Riesop and his wife, Lynn, have been married for 37 years. They have two children, Meghan and Travis, and 2 grandchildren, Jackson and Jayden. Riesop enjoys hunting, fishing, and attending sports events.

    On May 18, check-in starts at 5 pm. A buffet from Glenn's Market will be available from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The program will start at 6:30 pm and end within an hour.

    Reservations for the banquet are due by May 9. If your reservation won't be received by at least May 11, contact Jean Holzhueter at (920) 478-8194 or jeanholz66@gmail.com to check if it is still possible to attend. Walk-ins will not be allowed.

    The cost per person is $32. Seniors attend for free as guests of the WHS Alumni Association. A reservation form is posted on the school website at Waterloo.k12.wi.us under Community/Waterloo Alumni. Checks should be made payable to the WHS Alumni Assn. Alumni should include their class year and any maiden name. Reservations can also be made without the form and sent with payment, class year, and maiden name to Holzhueter at 252 Highland Terrace, Waterloo WI 53594.
