Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by vehicle in Waterbury

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) – Waterbury Police say a man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning.

Police responded to the intersection of Cooke Street and Hawley Avenue around 8:30 a.m. for report of a pedestrian struck.

The pedestrian was located and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the 39-year-old driver was not injured and remained on scene during the investigation.

Amaryllis Avenue and Gorden Street were closed to traffic for several hours, but reopened by 11:30 a.m.

The WPD Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at (203) 346-3975.
