According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the kidnapping took place shortly before 7:20 p.m. in north county.

An officer was near Picador Drive and Lucas and Hunt Road when he saw a woman attempt to exit a vehicle. The other woman in the car prevented her from doing so.

Police claim the pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Other cars on the road had to evade the fleeing vehicle to avoid a collision.

The pursuit ended in Washington Park, Illinois, after police deployed spike strips to disable to the vehicle. The suspect, identified as Helen White, was arrested at the scene.

Police claim White and the victim know one another. No other information regarding the motive was disclosed.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged White, 36, with second-degree kidnapping and resisting arrest by fleeing. White is currently in custody in Illinois. Upon her transfer to the St. Louis County Justice Center, she’ll be held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
