WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) announced Monday that FanDuel, which is taking over from GamBetDC as the District’s sports wagering vendor, officially launched its website and app.

D.C.’s mobile and retail sports betting has been managed by Intralot under GamBetDC since 2019.

Users have criticized GamBetDC for years, with some saying it was glitchy.

“GamBet has been crashing, there’s issues with it. That’s why I personally don’t use it,” William Moyler, who bets in D.C., told DC News Now in March. “I’m just glad, I’m glad. It’ll get them a lot more business.”

“FanDuel’s industry-leading offering will ensure that the District maximizes revenue under its existing contracts this year while delivering a best-in-class experience for 18+ residents,” Frank Suarez, executive director of OLG, previously said.

FanDuel is expecting to bring up to $119 million in tax revenue for D.C. over the next five years.

The app is already in Maryland and Virginia. According to a spokesperson for the company, it has generated $265 million and $256 million in gross gaming revenue per year respectively.
